WhatsApp AI chatbots for UAE businesses: how they work and what they cost

Short answer

A WhatsApp AI chatbot reads each message, in English or Gulf Arabic, voice notes included, and replies from your own prices: it quotes, books, follows up and hands over to your team. With OrcaFlo, 300 chats a month at about 10 messages each costs around $74.99 (about AED 275) on Starter, plus the Payment processing fee (October 2026).

Updated

Customers in the UAE expect a reply on WhatsApp, not a phone call or a form, and they message several businesses at once. This guide explains how WhatsApp AI chatbots work, how they differ from the older menu bots, what they do for clinics, salons, real estate agents, online stores and restaurants, how to set one up, and what it really costs in dirhams and dollars, including Meta’s fees if you go the official API route. OrcaFlo, which we make in Sharjah, is the example throughout, with its trade-offs stated plainly.

Made for how the UAE buys on WhatsApp

English and Gulf Arabic

Replies in the customer’s language and switches when they do, and understands voice notes and photos.

Your number, no API

Links to the WhatsApp Business app you already use, by QR. No Meta verification, no Meta fee on replies.

Paid in dirhams

Cards are charged in UAE dirhams: AED 55.05 a month for Starter (AED 367.25 for Done-for-you), about AED 0.07 per message.

Answers after hours

Late nights, weekends and the hours after iftar in Ramadan are when many enquiries arrive. It answers them the same as at noon.

Rule-based bots are fine for one fixed job. The trouble starts when a customer writes a normal sentence, mixes Arabic and English, or asks for a price and a time in the same message: the bot can’t follow, and the customer messages the next business on their list. An AI chatbot handles that the way a trained receptionist would. What a WhatsApp AI sales agent does that a chatbot can’t goes through the difference with two example conversations.

Gulf dialect, Modern Standard Arabic and English

Arabic on WhatsApp is rarely textbook Arabic. Customers write in Emirati and wider Gulf dialect, in Arabizi (Arabic in Latin letters with numbers), or in a mix of Arabic and English in one line, and many send voice notes instead of typing. A chatbot that only understands Modern Standard Arabic, or replies in stiff translated Arabic, sounds like a machine and loses the customer’s trust quickly.

OrcaFlo understands Gulf dialect, Modern Standard Arabic and English, and replies in the language the customer writes in, switching per customer. You set the register in its instructions: formal Arabic for a clinic or a business that deals with government clients, a friendly Gulf tone for a salon or a restaurant. Before going live, chat with it in the way your customers write and read its answers; that is the quickest way to hear whether it sounds right.

What the assistant does

Answers from your prices

Quotes your services, products and packages from the list you give it, and is told not to invent a price.

Books and reminds

Offers real open slots from Google Calendar, confirms the booking and sends a reminder; or shares your Calendly link.

Takes orders and payment

Collects the order details and sends a payment link through Strabl or Ziina (connected by our team), or takes cash on delivery.

Follows up quiet leads

A friendly nudge to customers who stopped replying, sent at a polite hour, if you switch it on.

Fills your pipeline

Every chat lands in a CRM board with its stage, tags and history; connect HubSpot, Zoho CRM or Google Sheets.

Hands over to a person

Complaints, big orders and anything it isn’t sure about go to your team, with the whole conversation and an alert.

Use cases by industry

Clinics

Answers treatment prices and doctor availability, books consultations into real slots, sends reminders to cut no-shows, and passes medical questions to your staff. WhatsApp for clinics.

Salons and spas

Quotes services and packages, books the stylist or therapist the customer asks for, fills late cancellations and follows up for the next visit. WhatsApp for salons and spas.

Real estate

Answers the enquiry from a portal or an ad in seconds, asks budget, area, bedrooms and move-in date, and books the viewing for your agent. WhatsApp for real estate.

Online stores

Checks stock, sizes and delivery times to each emirate, takes the order, sends a payment link or confirms cash on delivery, and follows up abandoned chats. WhatsApp for online stores.

Restaurants and cafés

Shares the menu and opening hours, takes table bookings and catering enquiries, and answers “do you deliver to…?” at any hour. WhatsApp for restaurants and cafés.

Home services and more

Quotes jobs, books visits and sends the technician’s time. The same works for home services, gyms, garages, travel agents and training centres.

How to set it up

1

Check your number

Use the WhatsApp Business app on a number that has been active for at least 10 days. Brand-new numbers that start auto-replying at once are the most likely to be restricted.

2

Connect by QR code

Scan a QR code from the app’s Linked devices menu, like WhatsApp Web. You keep your number, chats and the app on your phone.

3

Pick a starter pack

Choose your type of business (clinic, salon, real estate, store, restaurant or gym) and the instructions, quick replies, pipeline and automations are ready to edit.

4

Add your facts

Your prices, services, opening hours, locations, delivery areas, policies and the answers to the questions you get every day.

5

Test it like a customer

Chat with it in the panel in English and Arabic; nothing is sent to customers while you test. AI mystery shoppers, about 20 simulated customers with a score and the worst chats, are in early access.

6

Press Go live

It stays off until you press Go live. Prefer to approve replies for the first days? Shadow Launch, where a person sends or edits each draft, is in early access.

What it costs, in AED and USD

There are four ways to pay for a WhatsApp chatbot in the UAE: an agency build, an API platform plus Meta’s fees, Meta’s own AI agent, or an AI linked to the number you already use. What a WhatsApp chatbot costs in the UAE prices all four with a worked bill. OrcaFlo’s own prices are below; cards are charged in dirhams.

Starter plan, a month$14.99AED 55.05
Done-for-you plan, a month (we set it up and keep tuning it)$100AED 367.25

No plan fee for 14 days and your first 500 messages free, then from $14.99 a month + 2¢ per message. No setup fee. Messages you type yourself on your phone don’t count. Every invoice comes with a payment processing fee, shown as its own line.

If you choose the official WhatsApp Business API instead, Meta charges per delivered message on top of the provider’s plan. Since 1 October 2026, replies to UAE numbers cost AED 0.0576 each after the first 1,000 a month per number, utility templates AED 0.0576 and marketing templates AED 0.2115 (Meta’s AED rate card, effective 1 October 2026). Older guides that call replies free undercount. Every rate is in WhatsApp Business API pricing in the UAE. OrcaFlo’s QR connection carries no Meta fee.

Official API or QR-linked: the honest trade-off

Green tickNoPossible through Meta’s verification
Ban riskSome: WhatsApp doesn’t allow unofficial apps, and spam-like use raises itNo unofficial-app risk; Meta’s messaging policies apply
Large marketing campaignsSmall, paced batchesLarge template campaigns to opted-in lists

The trade-off of OrcaFlo’s QR link: it isn’t Meta’s official API or an official WhatsApp app, so there’s no green tick, and WhatsApp says linking an unofficial app can lead to a temporary or permanent ban. Since 20 October 2026 OrcaFlo also connects to the Official WhatsApp Business API, where Meta’s own fees apply. To keep the risk down OrcaFlo asks for an account at least 10 days old, paces broadcasts, replies to people who message you rather than cold-messaging, and shows a WhatsApp health light that alerts your admins if delivery stops. For very large template campaigns, use the official API. OrcaFlo also connects to the Official WhatsApp Business API (Cloud API), and you keep the WhatsApp Business app on the same number; Meta’s per-message fees apply, billed by Meta to your own WhatsApp Business account. Running a WhatsApp chatbot without the API covers the trade-off in full.

Instagram and Messenger in the same inbox

Many UAE customers find you on Instagram first. The same assistant answers Instagram DMs, turns comments on posts and reels into private chats, answers story replies and shows ice breakers, and answers Facebook Messenger and leads from Facebook Lead Ads, all through Meta’s official APIs for those channels. Website chat, email and Telegram arrive in the same inbox, at the same per-message price, where anyone on your team can take over a chat. TikTok and product cards from a catalog are coming soon.
